Legal notice about Georgina Herrera archives

The death of Georgina Herrera produced a natural void in Cuban literature, and also a somewhat political crisis; when manipulations by officials of Casa de las Américas —an official Cuban institution— seized her literary archives. As a result of this, I —Ignacio T. Granados Herrera, his surviving son— have lost access to those archives; and I therefore declare them illegitimate, as well as any use or access by any other party to them, from the very date of her death.

As the son of Georgina Herrera, I demand access to those archives, and the disposition of their final deposit; for which I would consider its relevance and the good of national culture, but as an indisputable right. Violation of this notice will have legal repercussions, to which those who commit it would be exposed; not only outside Cuba —for logical reasons of jurisdiction— but also in the country, once its political situation stabilizes; being challengeable even after the death of the undersigned, by any family member interested in it.

Given in Cuban exile by Ignacio T. Granados Herrera, on the date of the post.
